Life on the Farm
Have you ever wondered what the day to day looks like on a livestock farm or ranch? Well I did! I grew up moving to mainly bigger cities, living on military bases and longing for a quieter life. I never knew that God would answer that desire with where we are now but man am I glad He did!
I married into a farming family that operated a certified organic row crop farm in Southwest Minnesota, which I knew NOTHING about haha. Needless to say, it was trial by fire when we moved back to the farm the weekend after we got married. There were many late nights and early mornings together in the tractor with Brandon attempting to explain the intricacies of farm life... Much of which went over my head at the time. He tried to be patient and luckily we also had his parents to help ease me in to the farm life.
Fast forward a few years and I have found my passion for the farm. From researching the best forage mixes for our livestock to being out in our pasture, watching our cattle graze. It never ceases to amaze me how something so simple could stir up so many emotions. I know I know, a mom with young kids... not too hard to show emotions haha.
Seriously though, I stand out in our pasture in awe of God's handiwork in the seemingly mundane tasks we do. Our on pasture jobs of mixing feed, moving our cattle to new paddocks, watering our cattle, taking feed out to our chickens and picking eggs. Then we transition to in-store jobs of candling, weighing and packing eggs, pulling meat for pickup and shipping orders as well as stocking our in-store display cases.
I find immense joy knowing that what we are raising is not only feeding our family but I get the opportunity to pack eggs and meat for other families to enjoy. Being in our store makes me SO happy because I get to pray over those families and I am thankful for that gift each day! We are also kicking off updated store hours as of this week! I encourage you to come out and see us or maybe even set up a farm tour so that we can get to know you better!
New Store Hours: Thursdays 5-7pm & Saturdays 1-4pm
