What!?! A CARNIVORE Diet?

Do you or other family members have issues with chronic illness or autoimmune diseases? We do... which is, in part, what lead us to change our focus on the farm and in life. I won't lie, it is a work in progress

I have my own health struggles with my thyroid and blood pressure. I have been in a season of adding and subtracting from my diet, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Changing from eating store bought bread, to homemade bread, then again to homemade sourdough bread. It can be time consuming and seem very overwhelming to constantly be changing what you are eating and never sure how your body is going to feel.

Although bread was a huge part of my change thus far and is an easy target when modifying diet... The meat we eat plays a big role in the nutrient content of our diet and how I feel each day. We knew organic was better, not having chemicals or pesticides used on our pasture. We also knew grass-fed & grass-finished provides higher nutrient content and good fats, but remains a leaner meat overall compared to grain fed.  But I still wondered, how much do I need to eat to really see a difference in my thyroid?

Then it is like God heard my thoughts and here came an interaction in the grocery store parking lot with an alternative medicine veterinarian! My husband and I now are learning about the carnivore diet and its relationship to reducing symptoms and medication need for MANY chronic illnesses and autoimmune diseases.

Like with any other diet, you need to vet them on your own and determine if it is right for you... I can only speak from my experience, which I plan to share as I continue on this journey. However, after researching many other conventional and holistic doctor's input, I have decided to give the carnivore diet a try and see how I feel and maybe even re-run labs to put it to the test over the next month or so.

I know I know, it seems limiting and maybe even a little hard to image eating a pound and a half of organic, grass-fed beef each day... But if I can re-gain focus, physical motivation, improved sleep and decreased need for medications this will be totally worth it! Imagine, the national average for food and healthcare cost per day is $21. What if you could spend the same amount on food and eliminate the need for medication management, increased doctor visits and bills?!?

So here I come meat eaters... in anticipation of a big change! Check back for more information on the carnivore diet variation I am following and how it is working for me!
